What does provisional approval mean for students?
Graduates from provisionally approved law schools are eligible to sit for the bar exam. Wilmington University School of Law has compiled a list of U.S. jurisdictions where our graduates are eligible to sit for the bar examination.
From an accreditation perspective, a law school that is provisionally approved is entitled to all the rights of a fully approved law school. Similarly, from an ABA perspective, graduates of provisionally approved law schools are entitled to the same recognition that is accorded graduates of fully approved law schools. Most States consider graduates of provisionally approved law schools as graduates of fully approved schools. However, students should check individual State requirements.
ABA Accreditation Timeline
ABA procedure requires that a provisionally approved law school wait a minimum of two years and not more than fours years before applying for full approval. Wilmington University School of Law will continue to pursue full approval in accordance with ABA rules and procedures.
