MED 7830 AI Literacy for Educators
This course develops foundational AI literacy for educators, emphasizing critical understanding, ethical application, and inclusive instructional use of artificial intelligence in educational settings. Candidates examine how AI systems function, including data inputs, algorithmic decision-making, and potential sources of bias, and evaluate their impact on teaching, learning, and assessment.
Special attention is given to the implications of AI for students with disabilities and diverse learning needs, including accessibility, individualized supports, assistive technologies, and compliance with ethical and legal considerations in special education contexts.
The course explores equitable access, learner variability, digital responsibility, and human-centered instructional design within AI-enhanced environments. Educators develop the knowledge and skills necessary to critically select, implement, and monitor AI-supported tools in ways that support all learners while upholding professional and ethical standards.
