NAP 8104 Anesthetic Implications of Co-Existing Disease

This course focuses on the anesthetic management of patients with co-existing diseases, exploring how various chronic and acute conditions impact anesthesia care. Students examine the physiological alterations caused by common co-morbidities, such as cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, hepatic, and endocrine disorders, and how these affect anesthetic planning and execution. There is an emphasis on risk assessment, preoperative optimization, intraoperative management, and postoperative care tailored to patients with complex medical histories. This course provides students with the theoretical foundation for making informed decisions and providing safe, individualized anesthesia care for patients with co-existing diseases.
