HEL 7701 Leading Change and Innovation in Higher Education
The success of any change initiative, process improvement or innovation is determined by its adoption and sustained use. This course examines the theory and practice of leadership, change management, and innovation within institutions of Higher Education and across complex systems. Students will explore transformational, generative, and other leadership approaches while developing the skills needed for leading change and fostering innovation. Emphasizing critical and process improvement thinking, the course addresses how leaders' sense, scan for and respond to environmental shifts, leverage tools including AI and overcome barriers to adoption and sustainability. Topics include open innovation, leading change initiatives, using improvement cycles, the role of technology, and the dynamics of innovation in networked environments within the context of higher education.
