HEL 7702 Communication and Decision Making in Higher Education
Leadership is a communicative art and a discipline of sound decision-making. Whether inspiring others with a vision, persuading a resistant audience, resolving conflicts, or engaging diverse stakeholders, effective leadership requires both exceptional communication skills and the ability to make thoughtful, ethical decisions. This course immerses students working in the higher education sector in learning experiences designed to refine authentic communication and strengthen decision-making strategies that align with integrity, empathy, and organizational goals. Students will explore how leaders of educational institutions can use storytelling, active listening, and persuasive dialogue to influence outcomes while applying structured approaches to complex decisions. Additionally, the course examines the evolving role of AI in communication and decision-making, preparing leaders to leverage AI effectively in guiding Institutions of Higher Education toward success.
